Garbage truck hits Alaskan Way Viaduct

The viaduct closure had a rocky start when a garbage truck got stuck underneath the structure shortly after commuters were told to find alternate routes on Friday morning. Officials worried that the truck, which had ruptured its natural gas tank in the collision, might catch fire if emergency responders attempted to move it. They were eventually able to remove it safely.

Two injured in crash near Safeco Field
Two people were injured in a car crash early last Friday morning when the driver lost control of the SUV they were riding in. The vehicle struck a curb and rolled over, landing on its rood. The driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. One passenger was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. A second passenger was unhurt.

Three injured in crash with semi truck

A Yakima woman was seriously injured in a crash on Sunday morning. She was the passenger in pickup truck that struck the read end of a Jeep, crossed the westbound lanes, and struck a fence. She was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Young woman dies in DUI-related crash
An 18-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Monday morning when the vehicle she was riding in ran a stop sign and was T-boned by an oncoming truck. Police believe that the driver of the first vehicle had been driving recklessly in a parking lot before the crash, and that potential drugs and paraphernalia were found in the wrecked vehicle. The driver of the truck that T-boned the vehicle was also injured and transported to a local hospital.

A motorcycle rider was injured in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood on Tuesday when he slammed into a delivery truck parked in front of City Market. The rider was alert and conscious after the crash but was transported to a hospital with injuries.

Crash snarls commutes during viaduct closure
