One man was pronounced dead after a small plane skidded off the runway and crashed through a fence at the Woodland State Airport last Thursday. Two other people who were in the airplane were taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center with injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration has not released details about the cause of the crash.
Police cruiser rammed by stolen truck
A cruiser owned by the Spokane Police Department was rammed into by a suspect on Saturday afternoon during a police pursuit. The chase began when police officers found Lacy Drake, 27, sleeping in a truck that they suspected was stolen. When she woke up, she drove off, slamming into a police car before fleeing. Police located the abandoned truck and arrested Drake after finding her in the area shortly afterwards. The police officer who was in the cruiser was not injured.
Two incidents, possibly connected, send four to hospital
Four people were injured after two collisions in Seattle on Sunday. The first, a hit and run at W Dravus St. and 16th Ave W, resulted in no injuries. The second, a multi-vehicle crash at 15th Ave W and W Armory Way, ended with three people with minor injuries and one in critical condition. Police announced that one of the drivers involved in the crash will be taken into custody when they are released from the hospital. They are investigating the possibility that their suspect was involved in both incidents.
One hospitalized after Spokane crash
A multi-vehicle car accident on East Bigelow Gulch Road in Spokane sent one person to the hospital on Sunday night. The road was closed for over an hour as emergency responders cleared away debris. A witness to the collision told reporters that two of the cars hit head-on.
Defective equipment to blame for fire truck crash
One man was taken to the hospital on Saturday night after the fire truck he was driving rolled while he was turning at a stop sign. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected through the passenger side windshield. The truck ended up in a ditch, resting on its top. Investigators believe that the crash was caused by defective equipment.
Man struck by truck on Lake City Way
A 33-year-old man was struck by a commercial truck on Monday afternoon in Seattle. He sustained a life-threatening head injury and is currently being treated at Harborview Medical Center. Police have not yet released details about the cause of the crash, but they did tell reporters that the driver of the commercial truck is cooperating with the investigation.
Bicyclist injured in collision with school bus
A bicyclist in Everett was critically injured after he was struck by a school bus on Monday afternoon. None of the students on the bus were injured in the collision. Police believe that the cyclist had failed to stop at an intersection before he hit the bus. Alcohol may have been a factor in the cyclist’s erratic behavior on the road.
Police chase ends in sand trap
A suspect fleeing from police early Tuesday morning veered off the road and onto a golf course. The chase had begun on I-5, where the suspect reached speeds of over 100 miles per hours before he exited onto a surface street. The suspect’s stolen car ended up stuck in one of Broadmoor Golf Course’s sand traps. Two girls who were in the suspect’s stolen car were taken home, and the suspect was taken into custody.
