When someone is involved in a drunk driving accident in King County, Washington, chances are they’ll cross paths with Amy Freedheim at some point. That person’s interaction and subsequent relationship with Freedheim depends entirely on which side of the DUI collision that person sits on.
Victims of DUI accidents in King County are likely to praise Freedheim’s work as the DUI prosecutor, as she aggressively seeks justice for victims and their families following one of these tragic accidents. DUI offenders, on the other hand, are more likely to see the county’s veteran prosecuting attorney in a different light; brutal and relentless might be more appropriate words for a person on this side of the coin.
But make no mistake; Freedheim is lauded by victims’ loved ones as a compassionate and caring person who takes her career as seriously as possible. Her office even has a wall filled with photos of these tragic victims, a constant reminder of the seriousness of the work she does every day.
To add to her list of accomplishments as a prosecuting attorney in King County, Freedheim was one of the key supporters of several bills that recently went into law that increase the punishments for offenders in drunk driving collisions.
