Officials with the Washington State Patrol say three people were injured Friday night in a multi-vehicle car accident on southbound Interstate 5, just north of the I-5 Bridge in Vancouver.
The auto accident occurred at 11:25 p.m. A Subaru Impreza cut across the median at a high rate of speed while merging onto the freeway. The Impreza crashed into a Volvo semi hauling two trailers.
The collision caused the semi truck to rotate left and jackknife, striking the passenger side of a Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Impreza was injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. Two passengers in the Impreza were also injured and taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.
No other injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
Serious Car Accidents in Vancouver
Vancouver had 38 total fatal and suspected serious injury crashes in 2017, producing 10 fatalities.
Of those crashes, 14 involved a had been drinking driver, pedestrian or bicyclist.
