Woman Attacked By Pit Bull In Beacon Hill | Seattle Injury Lawyer

Early Saturday morning, a 65-year-old woman was attacked by a pit bull as she went to check on her daughters Beacon Hill rental unit in the 1900 block of 14th Avenue South.
As she went into the apartment at about 11 a.m., the pit bull inside suddenly attacked her, brutally biting her several times.
The woman’s sister, who was with her at the time, fended the dog off using her purse, but the dog continued after the two women outside and bit the victim several more times.
After the second attack, the dog returned to the house. Police officers that responded to the 911 call corralled the pit bull in the house until it could be taken by animal control.
The victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where she was treated for her non-life-threatening injuries. Her sister was not injured in the attack.

In the year of 2009, there were 32 fatal dog attacks in the United States. Pit Bulls apparently accounted for 44 percent of all the fatal attacks.
Washington State Dog Bite Law
According to Washington State law the owner of any dog which shall bite any person while such person is in or on a public place or lawfully in or on a private place including the property of the owner of such dog, shall be liable for such damages as may be suffered by the person bitten, regardless of the former viciousness of such dog or the owner's knowledge of such viciousness. See RCW 16.08.040.
