Devastating Highway 2 Crash

A violent crash involving a semi-truck and at least one other vehicle has completely closed down U.S. 2 in Snohomish. At least two people have been confirmed injured. Sent to the rescue were WSDOT, fire, aid, State Patrol and an airlift helicopter, navigating a crash scene where wreckage is strewn across the highway near Bickford Avenue.
Helicopter video surveillance showed a jackknifed semi-truck and an SUV that were almost entirely destroyed in the crash. The remaining vehicles shown were slowed or stopped in an effort to avoid and observe the flaming wreckage.
Skid marks lead sharply off the road, at the end of which lies the jack-knifed semi which came to rest and caught fire. The truck’s cab was nearly unrecognizable as the flames completely disfigured it. The front end of a silver SUV was also demolished. Other vehicles may have been involved in the crash, but have not been officially reported yet. Both directions of traffic are being diverted off the highway in an effort to avoid further collisions and maintain traffic flow.
