$2 Million Settlement In Washington Drunk Driving Injury Case

Posted on Oct 15, 2012

Seattle Attorney Chris Davis Helps Drunk Driving Victim Get Fair Compensation

The Seattle law firm Davis Law Group announces that it has recovered a $2 million dollar settlement in a Washington State drunk driving case.  The names of the parties are being withheld due to a confidentiality provision demanded by the insurance carriers during litigation.

The collision occurred when a vehicle driven by a drunk driver crashed at a high speed.  The driver was found to have been legally intoxicated, and had a blood-alcohol reading well above the legal limit of 0.08.

Davis Law Group represented a passenger that was injured in the drunk driving crash.  The victim sustained multiple fractures including a mild traumatic brain injury.  The driver and the client were returning home after drinking at a local tavern.  The driver later pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

Seattle attorney Chris Davis represented the injured passenger on behalf of the law firm.  Davis, a strong supporter of tougher drunk driving laws in Washington State, was successful in negotiating the $2M settlement on behalf of the drunk driving victim after several months of litigation.

In Washington State, 42% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes involve a driver that was under the influence of alcohol.  In 2009, over two hundred people in Washington State lost their lives in drunk driving crashes.  Recently, the Washington State Legislature voted to increase the criminal penalties for drunk drivers who cause the death of another individual.
