NEWS: Dog Mauling Case Ends With Guilty Verdict

The Onalaska man who owns the property where a toddler was mauled by a pack of dogs last summer will face as much as a year in jail when he is sentenced next month.

Lewis County Prosecutor Michael Golden announced that Curt Lester Jr. was found guilty of one count of reckless endangerment and five counts of animals at large.

The jury’s verdict in Lewis County District Court came on Jan. 9.

The 21-month-old boy suffered multiple bites and cuts in the July 31 attack on Stub Road in Onalaska.

Lester, who retired as a civilian worker from the Washington National Guard, disputed that six of the dogs were his.

The various counts are gross misdemeanors. His sentencing is set for Feb. 4.
