“My two children had the benefit of being in his class. He strongly believes in collaborating with his students’ parents,” Roden said. “This approach creates a strong sense of community, which he extends throughout the school.”

Mr. Gallagher has developed kindergarten team activities, including many cross-class experiences. He also coordinated a fundraiser for Haiti earthquake victims, raising over $3,000 through a community event involving elementary students of all ages.

Beyond teaching and guiding his children to be successful students and citizens, Mr. Gallagher has also taken on leadership roles at Bryant Elementary. He chairs the School Climate Task Force that is working to develop a set of school-wide standardized policies. He also mentors new teachers in the building, as well as teaching interns.

Mr. Gallagher’s classroom is known as a “literacy model” which is frequently visited by new teachers and their mentors. He has received awards from the University of Washington, several PTSA’s and most recently receiving the Unsung Hero Award.

Aside from his work at Bryant Elementary, he teaches undergraduate and graduate level education classes at Heritage University. Teacher award winner Kevin Gallagher

Mr. Gallagher will use this award toward the creation of a kindergarten literacy library, as the school has no collection of quality literature that benefits entry and early level readers. This book collection would benefit 100 students each year.

Mr. Gallagher is a prime example of an extraordinary teacher. Davis Law Group is honored to recognize him for his hard work, dedication and perseverance.

Attorney Chris Davis and his wife started a program to help public school teachers get extra classroom supplies without having to spend their own money. The Davis Law Group School Supplies Gift Program gives a $100 OfficeMax gift card each week to a deserving Washington State Public school teacher and his/her class. Anyone can nominate a teacher for this program, teachers, and students, parents, and administrators.
