Drunk Driver Accepts Plea Bargain, Avoids Life in Prison | Seattle Accident Lawyer

Six months ago, 14 year old Danny Morse was hit by a drunk driver who while breaking in his new brand new skate board with a friend. Yesterday, this very sad story came to an end in a Pierce County court room with Darrell Ross, the drunk driver, pleading guilty to vehicular homicide.

Just after Christmas of 2009, Danny Morse and some friends were trying out there new Christmas gifts when the car driven by Ross hit Danny tossing him some 6 feet in the air, breaking his new skate board and ultimately taking his life. Ross was driving with a blood alcohol level of .09, which is makes him legally drunk in United States.

Upon accepting his guilty plea, Ross received a sentence of 2 years and 7 months, however his official sentencing is scheduled for July 5. Had Ross not accepted the plea bargain and gone to trial, he would have been facing life in prison.

As previously stated, Ross' Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) was .09. The legal limit for B.A.C. is .08 but is well above the a level that is safe. In an article that we recently published, it was illustrated how little it takes for an average person to reach a blood alcohol level of .08 as well as the effects that alcohol has at concentrations of .02 and .05.

From everyone at Davis Law Group, we once again send our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Danny Morse. It is our hope that with this bargain reached, a sense of closure to this case has been obtained. Once again, we send our thoughts and prayers to Danny's family.
