Accident Report: Tukwila Car Crash



The following is a description of the accident and the injuries of a former Davis Law Group client.  *Initials are used to protect the identities of the parties involved.

In October 2003 at approximately 4:00 p.m. SS was a front seat passenger in a vehicle being driven by her husband, ES. They were traveling Southbound on Andover Park West in Tukwila, Washington.

ES slowed the vehicle to prepare to stop at the red light. While decelerating his vehicle, the traffic light turned green. ES then began to accelerate his vehicle to keep up with traffic. As he proceeded through the intersection, his vehicle was hit on the front passenger side by a vehicle operated by MG.

All drivers have a duty to exercise ordinary care and to avoid colliding with another vehicle. RCW 46.61.245. Furthermore, a driver who is attempting to turn left in front of traffic must yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. RCW 46.61.185. MG was negligent when she failed to yield while attempting to turn left and then slammed her vehicle into SS and ES's vehicle.

SS suffered personal injuries as a result of the collision:
  • Cervical sprain/strain
  • Thoracic sprain/strain
  • Lumbar sprain/strain
  • Subluxations
ES suffered personal injuries as well:
  • Lumbar sprain/strain
  • Cervical sprain/strain
  • Subluxations
SS is a 19 year-old woman and ES is a 33 year old man. SS and ES live with their three children Renton, Washington.

ES is currently employed at a sports retailer as a warehouse worker. In his spare time, ES enjoys computers and spending time with his family. ES's activities have become limited due to his injuries. He is unable to continue with many of his activities and hobbies he enjoyed doing before this collision. He experiences pain when doing household chores and caring for his children.

Also at the time of the collision, SS was nine months pregnant with her daughter. Since her daughter's birth, SS has been a stay-at-home mom. In her spare time SS enjoys working out at the gym.

SS suffered considerable loss of enjoyment of life by having to experience constant and continuous pain and discomfort as a result of her injuries. SS was unable to enjoy the first months of her daughter’s life due to the pain and discomfort she experienced. SS did nothing to contribute to the cause of the crash and could do nothing to avoid the collision.

SS’s activities are limited due to her injuries. She is unable to continue with many of her activities and hobbies she enjoyed doing before this collision. She is unable to get down on the floor to play with her children and she feels pain with household chores and lifting.
