Accident Report: Market Street Rear End Car Accident

In December 2007 C.B. was riding with his friend, K.H., traveling north along NW Market Street in Seattle, Washington. As K.H. stopped their vehicle for a drunken pedestrian that had wondered into the street, they were unexpectedly struck from behind by D.L. Seattle Police Department responded to the scene and upon investigated cited D.L. for negligence. Substantial damage was done to the rear of the vehicle C.B. was riding in. With nearly $3,000 in estimated repair costs, the force and impact between the two vehicles is clearly documented.

Upon impact, C.B.’s body was violently jolted and tossed around the inside of the vehicle. His head was thrown forward and then snapped backwards, bluntly striking against the seat/headrest of the vehicle. He recalls his head striking against the dashboard and then springing back into the seat’s headrest. D.L. was negligent when he failed to be attentive while driving a vehicle, watch for traffic ahead, drive responsibly, and otherwise obey the rules of the road. As a direct result of D.L.’s negligence, C.B. sustained injuries to his neck, back, and wrists. A summary of his injuries and treatment are outlined below.
