Is it really that big of an issue or is it just something the media likes to talk about?

I frequently hear about and see drunk driving accidents and deaths on the news.

Unfortunately, drunk driving accidents are still a big problem in our society. Estimates are that someone dies every 31 minutes in the United States as the result of a drunk driving accident. Last year in Washington State alone, 521 people died in alcohol-related car accidents. Most of the drunk drivers who cause these accidents have woefully inadequate insurance, or in many cases…. no insurance at all, and leaving family members emotional and financially devastated. The bottom line: Drunk Driving is a very serious problem, both at the local and national level, and not something that media has overblown.
