A 46 year old man was hit broadside when the defendant ran a stop sign. He hit his head on the driver's side door. A Brain CT scan revealed a "subdural brain bleed" in the left parietal lobe of his brain. The man was already on disability due to a work-related back injury four years earlier. He underwent three neuropsychological evaluations over the next 2 years which showed deficits in memory, cognitive processing, and executive functioning. His medical bills were $40,000.
