On Sunday afternoon, a young man was killed in a one-car collision in Longbranch.

The 23-year-old driver, Max Denby, was spotted around 4:30 p.m. on Key Peninsula Highway by a witness. Denby had been driving an old mail truck down a hill when it slipped in the mud then hit and uprooted a tree. Denby wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was ejected from the truck which tipped over, pinned him down, and 

Pierce County Sheriff's office is investigating the accident but does not believe any reckless driving was involved in the accident.
