Yelm Boy Injured In Drunk Driving Accident

Type: car accident, injured child
Date: June 23, 2009
Location: Yelm Highway, Yelm, Washington

A 4-year-old boy was injured while a passenger in the car that was struck on Yelm Highway.  He will now require multiple reconstructive facial surgeries resulting from injuries he suffered in the crash.

Robert Ottoboni pleaded guilty to vehicular assault and hit and run during a hearing in a Thurston County Superior Court Judge. According to officer reports the State Patrol trooper on the scene smelled alcohol on Ottoboni’s breath after he chased Ottobobi down after the crash.  Ottobobi told officers that he had drunk “three tall Olympia beers while playing golf that day.”

Appraently the crash happened while Ottoboni was driving down the center turn late while attempting to pass another vehicle on Yelm Highway.  He claimed that he was trying to get his injured dog to the clinic for care, so he ran from the scene to the clinic.

In 2007, 12,998 people were killed in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes. These alcohol-impaired-driving fatalities accounted for 32 percent of the total motor vehicle traffic fatalities in the United States.

The family of the injured boy would be well-advised to consult an experienced Washington State child injury lawyer who will look into all aspects of this case and help seek justice in this case and get compensation of the medical bills and pain and suffering experienced by their son.
