Friday morning around 5 AM, a driver was going north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Marysville and collided with two other vehicles. The driver, a 43-year-old man, was killed instantly.
The two other drivers, a man from Marysville and a woman from Stanwood, were seriously injured and were both taken to Providence Regional Medical Center.
Traffic was reported to be backed up for more than four miles and the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 were closed four about 4 hours.
The accident is still under investigation and no details as to the cause of the collision or why the driver was going the wrong way have been released by Washington State Patrol.
