A wrongful death lawsuit was filed against a Chinese restaurant that that catered an end of year school party at a public school. The lawsuit alleges that the restaurant did not follow strict warnings provided by the teachers regarding a girl’s
severe food allergies.
After the girl ate the food, she had a severe allergy reaction and died.
School official saved samples of the food and sent it to a food laboratory where it was discovered that a noticeable amount of peanuts were in the food.
Food allergies and children
Food allergies are somewhat common in children. Approximately three million children have some type of recognized allergic reaction to a type of food. But a very small percentage, only about 15%, have actually reactions to the food, known as anaphylaxis, that could
kill the child if exposed to the food product.
