A car heading the wrong way on I-5 Sunday Morning crashed into a Thurston County deputy’s patrol car near Tumwater Boulevard.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a 2001 VW Jetta driven by a 29-year-old woman from Tenino was heading south in the
northbound lanes of I-5 when she collided with the patrol car that was going north on the freeway. The impact of the crash totalled both vehicles.
The 45-year-old deputy from Olympia and the woman driving the Jetta were both treated at the scene for their injuries. Neither one went to the hospital.
The WSP believes that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash but investigation is still under way to determine this.
No charges have been filed at this point.
