A 2-year old boy was killed and his parents injured in a car crash Sunday afternoon on I-82 near Wapato.

The father, Matt Ulrich, is recovering at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. The mother, Audrey was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center but died the next day from the injuries she received in the crash.

Audrey was driving the family's 2000 Ford Explorer home from the Westside of the state when she lost control after drifting into the median and crashed around 3:45 p.m.

Two other passengers, Ulrich's 4-month old son and Audrey's mother, were in the car at the time of the crash but were not seriously injured.

Everyone in the car was wearing seatbelts or in the proper car seats.

The Ulrich family is in our thoughts and prayers and we wish them the best in such a difficult time.
