A 7-year-old has girl died from injuries suffered when a van and a pickup truck collided. The accident happened when a Mercury Villager van headed northbound lost control on the icy bridge lost control and spun out. A southbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup pulling a trailer was unable to stop in time and struck the van on the rear passenger side sliding door.
Rachel Vekved was seated in a booster seat inside the van. She was unresponsive at the scene and died later at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. Annie Vekved was taken to the hospital but was treated and released.
