West Seattle Woman Dies In Crosswalk Accident l Personal Injury Lawyer

SEATTLE, WA - On Monday, September 22, 2008, a elderly woman, Rosemary MacCorkindale,  was hit while crossing the street at California Avenue and SW Dawson in the West Seattle neighborhood.  The incident occurred at 12:45 p.m.

Seattle police initially stated that she was 85 years old.  She was taken to Harborview Medical Center where she later died.  The King County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death was a head injury.

Some witnesses reported that MacCorkindale was in a marked cross walk and trying to cross California Avenue.  But there were also conflicting accounts about whether a marked cross walk existed at that location.  The police did not release the name of the woman or the other driver involved, but reported that the other driver was a 77 year-old woman.  No further details of the accident were reported.  The investigation is ongoing.
