A car accident injured a trooper of the Washington State Patrol Saturday evening in Federal Way.

The female trooper, who is a 7 year veteran of the Washington State Patrol, was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

According to WSP, the crash took place in the intersection of Highway 18 and Enchanted Parkway in Federal Way. A truck traveling westbound off of Highway 18 attempted to turn onto 16th Street but was driving too fast to make the turn successfully.

The driver of the truck lost control, jumped the turn lane and went into the other lane heading the wrong direction. He then slammed into the southbound patrol car, hitting the patrol car's driver's side door.

The trooper was inside of the car at the time of the accident.

The driver of the truck, a University Place resident, was taken into custody for DUI with an emphasis on prescription medication. He was uninjured.
