Washington State Passes Concussion Safety Law For Student Athletes
The State of Washington has passed legislation that will prohibit student athletes who have exhibited symptoms of a concussion from returning to the field of play without the approval of a licensed health care provider. This is the first law of this kind in the United States. The legislation also requires that parents and students be given concussion and brain injury information fact sheets. The bill passed unanimously in the Washington House of Representatives and with only one negative vote in the Senate.
