The man accused of killing Steve Lacey, Google software developer, posted bail just days after fatal DUI accident, but was jailed against yesterday. Prosecutors filed
vehicular homicide charges against Patrick Stevan Rexroat.
Rexroat has no prior criminal history therefore was let out on bail after the
drunk driving crash.
After the crash, Deputy Prescutor Jennifer Lyn Miller told the court that Rexroat began beating on his chest after the accident on I-405. A witness said that when Rexroat learned of Lacey’s death, he responded with “eh.”
The Snohomish resident told State Patrol trooper that he was cut off on I-405 and decided to chase the offending vehicle on the 85th Street exit in Kirkland. The road rage incident led to him to losing control of his SUC and slamming in Lacey’s BMW.
"The tragic death of Steve Lacey was not an accident," King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said in a statement. "It was the predictable result of aggressive driving under extreme intoxication."
Bail for Rexroat’s arrest is now set a $1 million.
He is like to face less than 3.5 years in prison if convicted as charged, Satterberg said. He will be arraigned on Aug. 9 at the King County Courthouse.
