Around 8:30 p.m., a 43-year-old woman attempted to make a left turn at the State Route 500 and St. Johns Boulevard intersection and struck an SUV driving by a 20-year-old male who was heading east. His SUV spun into another vehicle driven by a 31-year-old male. 
 

The woman and her 22-year-old passenger were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment of head, neck, and back injuries. The other drivers involved in the crash were uninjured.
 

Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident and charges may be pending for failure to stop at a red light.

•     * High Risk Age Groups: People between the ages of 15 and 24 and over 75 are the groups most likely affected by car accidents
•     * Senior Drivers: Drivers over the age of 65 are second most likely to die in a car crash
•     * Safety Disparity: Despite the fact that older drivers are on average slower, safer drivers, they are more likely to die in a car accident than younger drivers

Preferential right-of-way may be indicated by stop signs or yield signs. Except when directed to proceed by a duly authorized flagger, or a police officer, or a firefighter vested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic, every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop sign shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering a marked crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways.
