Two people were injured in a collision near Othello on Friday night.
Just after 8:30 p.m. 21-year-old Dainiel P. Faucher was trying to pass another car on Highway 24 but drove off the shoulder, zigzagging across the highway before rolling his truck off the highway, coming to rest on its wheels.
Faucher was taken by helicopter to Kadlec Regional Medical Center with a head injury. His passenger, 22-year-old Matthew W. Hinson was taken to Othello Community Hospital for cuts and bruises.
Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident and believes that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor and charges are pending against Faucher.

Driving under the influence (RCW 46.61.502)
A person is guilty of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug if the person drives a vehicle within this state: (a) And the person has, within two hours after driving, an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher as shown by analysis of the person's breath or blood made under RCW 46.61.506; or (b) While the person is under the influence of or affected by intoxicating liquor or any drug; or (c) While the person is under the combined influence of or affected by intoxicating liquor and any drug.

No person shall drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing. In every event speed shall be so controlled as may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle or other conveyance on or entering the highway in compliance with legal requirements and the duty of all persons to use due care.
