Two people were injured in a collision near Toppenish on Saturday night.

Around 10:45 p.m. Guillermo Rivas was driving on Meyers Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a vehicle carrying two other people. Mayra A. Hurtado, 28, and Jose L. Ramirez Soto, 30, were headed westbound on Highway 22 when they were struck by Rivas.

Hurtado and Ramirez Soto were taken to Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center for treatment. Washington State Patrol cited Rivas for driving under the influence.

Washington State Drunk Driving Law
A person is guilty of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug if the person drives a vehicle within this state:
(a) And the person has, within two hours after driving, an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher as shown by analysis of the person's breath or blood made under RCW 46.61.506; or (b) While the person is under the influence of or affected by intoxicating liquor or any drug;
(c) While the person is under the combined influence of or affected by intoxicating liquor and any drug.
