A motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Hannegan and Kelly roads in Bellingham on Friday morning when a car ran a stop sign and crashed into a pickup truck.

The driver of the car, 24-year-old Robert T.C. Anderson II was taken to St. Joseph Hospital where he was reported to be in serious condition. The driver of the pickup, 54-year-old Jack Eric Hendricks was treated for minor injuries.

Anderson was not wearing a seatbelt but Hendricks was. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash but charges for failure to yield are pending.

Obeying Stop Signs
All persons traveling upon the highway shall come to a complete stop at such a sign, and the appearance of any sign so located is sufficient warning to a person that he or she is required to stop. A person stopping at such a sign shall proceed through that portion of the highway in a careful manner and at a reasonable rate of speed not to exceed twenty miles per hour. It is unlawful to fail to comply with the directions of any such stop sign. See RCW 47.36.110 for more information.
