Two people were injured when their Jeep Grand Cherokee left the road and struck a tree.

Driver Scott D. Owens (Newberg, Ore), was taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center with back and neck pain. His passenger Elizabeth J. Christensen (Vancouver, WA) suffered a broken foot and stomach contusion. She was also taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center .

Both were wearing seat belts.

The cause was listed as speed and driver distraction. The case will be referred to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of a vehicular assault charge against Owens. Drugs or alcohol were believed to be factors in the accident.
