Two arrested for attempting to flee the scene
Date: June 17, 2011, 06/17/2011
Location: Bellevue, King County, Washington
Type: Semi truck accident
Outcome: None injured
Two people were arrested after crashing a stolen semi truck on I-90 near Bellevue on Friday.
Washington State Patrol reported a crash that occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the off ramp of 150th Avenue Southeast. A semi truck had hit a barrier on the ramp, skidded, and came to a stop on Southeast 34th Street.
The truck, which was carrying heavy auto parts, continued to drive along the road, despite a right front tire missing, and fuel spraying everywhere. When two men tried to leave the truck and flee the scene, they were apprehended and arrested by Washington State Patrol.
The two men, who were without identification, were booked into King County Jail and face charges of driving under the influence, hit and run, and possible penalties for fuel damage. It is also unclear how they came into possession of the semi truck, which may have played a rold in the collision, if they were inexperienced semi drivers.
The investigation is ongoing.
