Truck Driver Dies from Injuries in SR-167 Truck Crash | Washington Injury Lawyer

A man died from accident injuries received in an accident involving a semi-truck around 6:30 Tuesday night on State Route 167 near Sumner.

The injured truck driver, David Roy Hemphill of Auburn, was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he was listed as in critical condition. He later died from the injuries he received in the accident.

According to troopers, the accident took place when the truck, traveling north on SR 167, veered off the road and slid into an embankment at high speeds. The truck then came forward and smashed into the overpass.

The impact from the crash caused the tank to rip off releasing a chemical which was later identified as carbon dioxide used in sodas.

Both north and southbound lanes were closed for nearly eight hours.

What caused the driver to veer off the road is unknown.
