A three year old was killed by an SUV in University Place Monday.

The little girl, Saniah Marcus, passed away while en route to the hospital.

According to Police, the driver of the SUV, didn't see the little girl who was on her tricycle right in fron of the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, also the fiance of Saniah's mother, had called to the children asking them to get out of the way because he was going to pull out, but Saniah didn't hear him.

Pierce County Sheriff's Department Spokesman Ed Troyer said he's seen a lot of these types of accidents over the years and that if you have a car you can't see the front end in, you have to get out and take a quick walk around to ensure there is nobody in your way.

Troyer said that the driver will most likely not face any charges and that it looks like it was just a terrible accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Association estimated that more than one-fifth of children between 5 and 9 years old who were killed in a car accident were pedestrians.
