Three people were injured on Wednesday afternoon around 2:20 pm when their van exploded after they left a Bellevue Chevron gas station on the corner of Kamber Road and 145th Place SE.

A witness claims that the van started rolling down a hill engulfed in flames and three people jumped from the vehicle, frantically trying to put the fire out on their clothes.

The cause of the fire was due to an open bucket of gasoline they kept inside the van. One of the three that were burned reported to Bellevue Police that the van was hard to keep running so they were transferring gas from the bucket to the engine (that could be reached in the front seat). The fumes inside the van were ignited by their attempt to restart it.

All three victims are being treated at Harborview Medical Center.
