Three injured in two-car accident on Highway 9

Three people were hospitalized Wednesday evening after a two-car collision on Highway 9 at Cemetary Road, 2 miles north of Woodinville. The accident occured around 7 p.m. when a Toyota Avalon driven by 17-year-old girl from Snohomish struck a curb in the southbound lane crossing into the northbound lane, smashing into a Suzuki passenger car. Her car continued off the roadway, crashing into a light pole that fell on top of the Suzuki.

The driver of the Suzuki, a 37-year-old woman from Bothell and her 18-year-old female passenger from Snohomish were taken to Evergreen Hospital for treatment. The girl who caused the crash was transported to Harborview Medical Center and Washington State Patrol reported that she was distracted when she lost control of her car.


Washington State Cell Phone Law

Since June 10, 2010 using a hand held cell phone to talk or text while driving in not allowed. Any violators can be stopped by authorities for that alone and will be fined $124.
