A hit-and-run accident in Tacoma left one car dangling from the bushes of an embankment over Interstate 5 just feet from the southbound offramp Sunday. According to police, a couple was approaching the D Street Bridge in Tacoma when a Ford Thunderbird ran a red light and collided with their vehicle, sending it over the embankment and down the hill.
The couple was able to get out of the vehicle and the woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to witnesses, the driver of the Thunderbird fled on foot toward downtown Tacoma after the crash. Authorities say the man suspected in the hit-and-run is a convicted felon who has been arrested for drunken driving on numerous occasions.
