The accident occurred when the car was hit by a Sound Transit Train going southbound, when making an illegal left turn against a red light at South Kenyon Street.

The southbound lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South were blocked at South Kenyon Street, but the train was back up and running by 4:20 that same day.
