Sleepy Driver Hits Washington State Patrol Car

A driver who fell asleep at the wheel crashed his car into an unmarked Washington State Patrol. Apparently the trooper had pulled over a 2002 Mazda on Interstate 205, just south of Mill Plain Boulevard.  While Trooper Gates and the other driver were still in their cars a Honda Accord driven by Jian Zhao drifted onto the shoulder and struck both cars.

Zhao told police that he fell asleep behind the wheel.  The crash is still under investigation. No citations have been issued.
