Sleeping driver hits another car head-on

A woman was trapped in her car and later rushed to Harborview Medical Center Thursday after police say a Pierce County driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit her vehicle head-on.
A 32-year-old man was driving his Ford Ranger southbound on state Route 7 at 235th Street East when he crossed the centerline about 7:50 a.m., State Patrol spokeswoman Brandy Kessler said. He received only minor injuries.

The 18-year-old Eatonville woman driving the Honda, who was trapped until aid units arrived, was transported from a local hospital to Harborview with critical injuries. State Route 7 was closed for more than two hours during the accident investigation.
