A Washington State Patrol trooper Dean Burt was injured Sunday evening after his car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer / semi truck on northbound U.S. Highway 395 just south of Ritzville. The patrol car was completely demolished but remarkably the trooper does not appear to have any life-threatening injuries.
Apparently Burt had just finished a traffic stop and was parked with his lights flashing on the shoulder of the road when the collision happened. At this time it is not clear why the semi truck was driving on the shoulder.
