Just after noon today, a semi tractor trailer collided with an eastbound Max light rail train in Hillsboro leaving eight people injured. The front windshield of the front Max car was smashed and there was moderate damage to the tractor portion of the semi when fire and rescue arrived to the scene.
Several passengers were complaining of injuries. Five of the light rail passengers were taken to the hospital along with the semi truck driver. A seventh passenger was transported by a privately-owned vehicle to a hospital and another injured person refused treatment at the accident scene.
The
drivers of the train and the semi are being investigated by Hillsboro Police and Tri-Met investigators. They are also checking the signal system at the intersection.
