SEATTLE – A minivan crashed Monday night and rolled over. The accident killed one of the woman occupants. The other woman was injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The minivan was heading north on Aurora when the driver lost control and struck the center jersey barrier. The vehicle then bounced off the barrier and went back across the road where it struck a building, causing the vehicle to flip over. The accident happened in the 1900 block of Aurora Avenue. Firefighters had to cut open the wrecked vehicle to let the occupants out. There was no information reported about how the driver lost control.
Roll-over accidents are deadly. I also see many serious and catastrophic injuries caused by roll-over accidents. Often times people in roll-over accidents receive blunt trauma to the head thereby causing traumatic brain injury. Sometimes I see cases involving partial and permanent paralysis caused by roll-over collisions. People have to pay attention to the roadway under all circumstances. It doesn’t take much to cause a loss of control and a subsequent collision.
