Seattle Police Patrol Car Strikes Bicyclist l Washington Attorney

A female on a bicycle was injured this morning when she was struck by a Seattle Police patrol car.  The collision happened at around 8:45am near the intersection of 12th Ave S & South Jackson Street in Seattle's International District.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined.  Investigators are looking into the circumstances which cased the accident.

The young woman was taken to Harborview Medical center for treatment of neck and back injuries.  It has also been reported that she may have sustained a broken leg.  Whether or not she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash is unknown.

We sincerly hope that the bicyclist's injuries are not serious and we wish her a speedy recovery. 

Bicycle Accident Statistics

According to statistics from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 660 bicyclists were killed in crashes with motor vehicles in 2002. Bicycle accidents and accident related deaths deaths are most likely to occur in summer.    In 2007 it was estimated that 89% of cyclists wear a helmet.
