Seattle drivers showed a little improvement over the past year when it comes to having a collision, but still rank in the lowest half of safe drivers.
According to the latest Allstate Insurance report, Seattle ranks No. 148 out of 200 cities surveyed, which is up two notches from last year. Tacoma drivers, however, fell 13 spots to No. 170 in the 2008 Best Drivers Report, according to Allstate.
Sioux Falls, S.D., drivers are the safest in the nation, according to the report. Drivers there have a collision once every 14.6 years, compared with the national average of a collision once every 10 years. Seattle drivers are 20.7 percent more likely to be involved in a crash, compared with the national average, and Tacoma drivers are 28.6 percent more likely.
Allstate said it insures about 12 percent of U.S. drivers.
