Sammamish Starbucks Crash Injures Three

Sammamish Starbucks CrashThree people were injured Monday afternoon after a woman lost control of her sport utility vehicle and crashed into the side of a Starbucks in the 2900 block of 228th Ave SE in Sammamish. Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s office says that the three people injured were customers and none of the injuries were serious.

According to police reports, a 50-year-old woman was driving her Nissan Pathfinder SUV through Sammamish when a medical boot she was wearing got lodged between the gas pedal and brake pedal, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The car accelerated and eventually crashed into the side of the building.

“The store is closed, and no employees were injured,” said company spokesman Jim Olson. “Obviously our first priority is those customers who were injured. Our thoughts are with them and we hope they’ll have a speedy and full recovery.”

The store will remain closed while the building is repaired. Olson said he was unaware how long the repairs would take.
