Repeat DUI Offender Kills Himself and Two Others In Ballard Car Accident | Seattle Attorney

Date: April 4, 2010
Type: Drunk Driving Accident, Fatal Accident, Wrongful Death
Location: Intersection of Northwest Market Street and Northwest 54th Street, Ballard neighborhood, Seattle, WA
Outcome: Mike Turner, Killen Jones and Spenser Millard dead. One woman injured.

Approximately one month ago Mike Turner (age 20) was arrested for drunk driving after a van he was driving slammed into five parked cars and then crashed head-on into a nearby tree.

Turner did not learn his lesson from that crash.  In the early hours of Sunday April 4th Turner and two friends (Kellen S. Jones age 20, and Spenser Millard age 19) who were passengers in his vehicle were killed just blocks away from the scene of the first crash.  Apparently Turner's red 1986 Pontiac Firebird crashed near a Ballard Taco Time restaurant.  Another passenger, a teenage girl, remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

After the earlier crash on March 6 Turner had been charged with six offences including driving under the influence, first-degree negligent driving and hit-and-run driving.  The first accident took place near the intersection of Northwest 65th Street and 20th Avenue Northwest just blocks away from where Turner and his friends would be killed just a few weeks later.  According to jail records, he was released the next day after posting a $500 bond, according to jail records.

The suspension of Turner's license for DUI was scheduled to take effect on May 6, therefore his driver's license was valid at the time of Sunday's crash.
