Practicing World Peace through Drunk Driving, Ex-Miss USA Receives DUI

Rima Fakih, ex-Miss USA was arrested in Detroit for drunk driving. The 26-year-old won the Miss USA Pageant in May 2010 and her reign ended June 19, 2011.

The pageant winner was born in Lebanon and raised in New York.

It is reported that the Fakih is “very saddened and very apologetic for the situation that she is in right now.”

Miss USA Great Role Model for Girls

Miss USA should encompass all of the qualities of a role model. Sure, she isn’t currently Miss USA, but after an extraordinary title such as a nation-wide pageant winner, you are forever obligated to hold up your part of the bargain. As Miss USA, you are associated with this total infinitely. It is unfortunate that young girls are witnessing this irresponsible behavior.

As a parent, it is important that you talk to your children about topics in the news – especially ones that can influence them. Drinking and driving is a huge issue that continues to take the lives of our loved ones. Since pageants can be idolized by young girls, it is even more important to discuss this particular story. When convictions include childhood role models, including actors, singers and more, you need to explain that this is inappropriate behavior.
