A Port Angeles man died in a fatal motorcycle accident  Sunday evening.

John Fullerton was taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles but was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center where he later passed away.

Fullerton crashed his motorcycle around 6 p.m. Sunday just south of Marine Drive on Tumwater Truck Route in Port Angeles.

Police and firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident to find Fullerton laying in a ditch on the west side of the road near his damaged motorcycle.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
