This incident took place Sunday when the couple was driving home on I-405 near Kirkland in their Mercedes SUV just south of Totem Lake. They were headed southbound in the HOV lane when a pickax went through their front windshield and landed between the front seats.
Both the husband and wife were sprayed with glass and grit.
The Washington State Patrol is looking for the truck headed northbound which witnesses described as a late 80's or early 90's green or teal pickup with wood panels on the sides of the bed.
In Washington State, failing to properly secure a load can have consequences of up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
