Pedestrian killed on Highway 99

A pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 99 near Lynnwood on Wednesday.

While trying to cross the highway north of Lincoln Way, a man tripped and fell in the southbound lane. He was then struck by a Honda Accord, dying at the scene.

The driver of the Honda had attempted to brake but couldn't avoid hitting the pedestrian.

Washington State Patrol is investigating, concluding it as a "tragic accident". Neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the crash. The pedestrian was not at a crosswalk.
